Managing A Healthy Lawn
(A few tips)
Managing a healthy lawn and garden requires essential care and maintenance. It requires regular activities to be performed and scheduled just to maintain it in a scenic and attractive appearance.
Once you have decided upon the type of grass based on sunlight and water availability. Next step is to select plants and decorations. Once scaping is completed, you may have to develop a program to maintain it in best of the shape.
There are few tips in managing a healthy lawn:
- Mowing the lawn high. Cutting your grass to a height of about 3 inches will promote healthy growth and at the same time will prevent unnecessary pests and weeds.
- Applying compost on your lawn. Compost has a positive effect on plant growth as it acts as a natural source of nutrients for the grass on your lawn.
- Watering your grasses deeply. This promotes the growth of deep roots of the grasses on your lawn. You should apply about an inch of water on your lawns but be sure not to water too often as too much water may starve the grasses from oxygen and end up doing more harm than good
- You should sow new seeds in areas that are thinning, or you can pick ground covers for spots that are tough to manage.
- Having a diverse lawn with many different grasses and plants on the lawn can make it look more attractive and even help the environment. It also prevents pests from attacking the same grass and spreading over the entire lawn if you were to have only 1 type of grass on the lawn.
- Getting help. There are many lawn companies that help maintain your lawn and perform pest control if you feel that you may require more help.
