About Adopt Me – A Roblox Game

Adopt me! is one of the most popular games on Roblox, it has about 22 billion visits. It usually has 100 thousand players in the game every day. The game was about adopting other players and roleplaying with others until they added pets on June 15th, 2019 which made the game very popular. Players started to focus on pets and trading features other than roleplaying or adopting players, which made the baby nursery empty most of the time. It also had the most concurrent players in any game in Roblox and also passed the most concurrent steam game, which caused the whole Roblox website down.

Eggs

Adopt me! adds new eggs which hatch into new pets, the first eggs to leave were pink egg and blue egg and are no longer obtainable. Both of the eggs only hatched one pet which was Blue dog(Blue egg) and Pink cat(Pink egg), they are the rarest uncommon pets in the game. The next eggs were the Safari eggs which can hatch into any of the 7 pets in total. There are 5 rarities which are common, uncommon, rare, ultra-rare, and legendary. The rarest rarity is legendary, it has a really low chance of getting hatched. The most popular egg is the safari egg as it can hatch a giraffe which both of these are not obtainable now.

Pets

Pets can ask you to fulfill their needs like when they are hungry, thirsty, etc you can earn bucks(currency of the game). With bucks, you can buy more eggs and stuff being sold for bucks like toys, vehicles, and gifts. You can buy bucks using Robux(Roblox currency). When you have fulfilled your pet’s needs, their growth will have increased. 4 of the same pets that are full-grown can be turned into neon, and 4 same neon pets that are full-grown can be turned into mega neon. Neon and mega neon pets are valued more than their normal versions, neon is valued more than normal, mega neon is valued more than neon.

Pets can now show expressions while fulfilling their needs in one of the recent updates. For example, they can get excited and spin around in circles when you bring them to the park when they ask you to. You can feed different potions to your pets like ride-a-pet or fly-a-pet potion which can make your pets rideable or flyable forever.

Rare Pets in Adopt Me

1. Shadow dragon

Shadow dragon (legendary pet) came to Adopt me! during the 2019 Halloween event. It costs 1000 Robux and became popular.

2. Bat dragon

Bat dragon (legendary pet) came to Adopt me! during the 2019 Halloween event. It costs 180,000 candies(500 Robux if the candies are bought from the candy store). Candies could be obtained by the different activities held during the event or bought from the candy store using Robux.

3. Giraffe

Giraffe (legendary pet) was the first legendary pet to leave and be obtained from a limited egg. So since it is unobtainable it became rare after leaving the game forever.

4. Frost dragon

Frost dragon (legendary pet) came to Adopt me! during the 2019 Christmas event. It cost 1000 Robux. It has the same body morph as the Shadow dragon but it has different colors and features to it.

5. Parrot

Parrot(legendary pet) was the second legendary pet to leave and be obtained from a limited egg. Due to its nice design, it became a favorite of players.

Competition and upcoming pets

One of the most recent pets Adopt me! planned to be a Cobra on 10th June 2021 but decided to postpone it. The castle update will resume and come on 10th June 2021. Adopt me! also hosted their first community competition on 9th June 2021 where you have to design a t-shirt for charity to the WDC website to help dolphins and whales.

Potions

There are different potions in Adopt me! which can affect your pet and yourself by feeding it to yourself or the pet. Some potions may fulfill some of the pets’ needs or all of them, the cure-all potion is one of the rarest potions that can fulfill all the needs by feeding it. The grow potion allows your character to grow larger. The big brew potion allows your pet to grow larger for 10 minutes. The most popular potions are the fly-a-pet potion and the ride-a-pet potion which allows you to ride or fly your pet forever. The rarest potion is the water walking potion, it allows the player to walk inside water, it stayed for a small amount of time in the sky castle during 2017. Only the ride-a-pet and fly-a-pet potions effect will stay forever than the rest of the potions.

Scams in Adopt Me!

There are different types of scams and scammers in Adopt me! and should be avoided by all ingame players.

Scammers

1. Lots of scammers use a fake story to gain attention or make the player feel bad about them. Example: “I got scammed by someone, I lost all my mega neon legendaries”.
2. Scammers would equip the item/pet to show that they have the specific item to gain the player’s trust. Example: “Trustrading my mega neon dragon, but you go first!” (they will have their mega neon dragon equipped to show that they have it).
3. Scammers would say that they are poor/just started the game so players would give them free pets, most people would end up giving rare pets to the scammers. Example: “Can I have pets? I just started this game?” or “Please give me free pets, I’m really poor!”.

There are other ways scammers can trick players but these are the types I see almost every day.

Scams

1. Trust Trading: trust trading is when a scammer promises the player to give a valuable item/pet after the unfair trade is completed, but ends up leaving the game with the player’s pet. Probably one of the most common scams but scammers try to convince you that they are not scamming.
2. Selling pets for bucks: scammers may trick players into thinking that they are selling valuable pets for cheap bucks prices, but in reality, they are going to leave with the bucks. Scammers may throw party invitations written “selling pets for bucks” or go around asking players if they want to buy their pets. Most of the scammers would be selling legendaries for only 100 bucks, but yes they are scams.
3. Friend scam: this scam hurts a lot as one of your trusted adopt me friends may be friends with you to scam you by gaining your trust. You met a nice person on adopt me and they ask you to be friends(they might have seen your valuable items/pets), every day your friend plays adopt me with you to gain your trust. Then one day they ask to borrow one of your valuable pets and you decide to give it to them because you trust them, then they end up leaving you unfriended. A lot of people got scammed by their adopt me best friend because of this as I’ve seen on youtube and heard about it from people in adopt me.

Glitches

There are different glitches in Adopt me which includes the common bugs that allow you to get out of the map in some buildings or houses. There are also glitched toys that may not look like what they are, for example, the kangaroo pogo stick which can get glitched and extend its size (it gets too long that it reaches beyond the map). Some people may notice some bugs when playing the game. People might troll or scam people saying that their pets or toys are glitched but most glitches would end after leaving the game then rejoining it.

Buildings

In the world of Adopt me! There are lots of buildings which you can roleplay and buy stuff from. Buildings like the school, hospital, campsite, Nursery (pet area), etc are popular with the players. Nursery is where the players can buy eggs or adopt babies(players rarely roleplay there). School is to teach your pets new tricks and to help them fulfill their needs. Hospital is for your pets. When they get sick, you can feed them a golden apple or talk to the nurse. The camp site is for when your pet wants to go camping, you can make your pets sleep and eat marshmallows on a stick. There are more buildings which are useful to you and your pets. The toy shop and the sky castle got an upgrade which added new stuff in them and removed some of the old stuff.

Houses

Every time someone starts Adopt me! They have a starter house called “Tiny house” which the players can freely decorate on the menu using their bucks. Everyone’s house is in the Neighborhood (not those who have premium plots that are located outside of the Neighborhood and cost 449 Robux). You can change your house and buy a new one or sell one of your houses, some houses may cost Robux but most of them don’t. A co-op building stand helps players decorate in other player houses, but scammers might use it as a way to scam and trick players.
