Maine Coon is the cat I love to have due to its appearance, size and qualities.

Appearance

Maine coon is the largest cat breed. It has fur that can stay thick in winter and thin in summer. They have a lion like mane. They were introduced in united states of America.

Personality

Maine coon were sometimes called gentle giants since they were gentle and quiet. They did not worry being around strangers or other pets. These giant cats are also very social animal or pet. They are fine around babies. This feline specie is also dog-friendly so they enjoy getting attention from their owners and other pets. But they do not do well when they are around rodents. And are sailor cats since they were transported from one place to other via ships.

Foods

Foods you should feed a Maine Coon is cooked meat, Kibble and Maine coon wet food.

There are some foods you should not give to your pet cats.  This list includes chocolates, sugary foods, grapes, avocados and raisins, food seasoning, flavorings, caffeine, energy drinks, raw meat, fish and dairy products.

Grooming

Cats like Maine Coon with big hair needs to be groomed well or their fur will get tangled easily. But if your pet cat does not like being groomed, then take it slowly. You should not do an aggressive grooming of your cat. Ultimately, in order to make it a habit, you have to develop its interest. Once your giant pet cat gets into grooming, it’ll be easy. You may start it by using a stainless-steel comb to untangled the tangled fur of the cat so the cat’s fur doesn’t get dirty or matted.

Care

You need to check the ears of your Maine coon weekly and if it looks dirty clean it with cotton ball. Avoid cleaning it with cotton swabs as they might hurt their ears. You also need to trim the nails of the pet cat after every few weeks. Keep your giant pet cat indoor is your best choice for safety of your cat since dogs and other animals may injure your cat. And this will also protect the cat from stolen away. Sometimes your cat might get lost and not be able to find its way back home.

To bathe a Maine coon is needed only if its dirty and you may do it every few weeks to few months. Maine coon cats also don’t like their fur being pulled so avoid babies pulling their hair since they don’t like it.
