- Pearlscale: Pearl scale goldfish are mostly round and are available in red, red & white, black, and calico forms. These are easy to keep variety but are poor swimmers. Their name is derived from the raised cap in the centre of each scale.
- Wakin: Wakins are twinned-tailed varieties of common goldfish. They are found in red, red & white color combinations. These are easy to keep variety that can survive with single-tail fish.
- Oranda: These are a beautiful and popular variety that has a bond-like growth on the head. Similar to other varieties, Orandas are available in red, blue, chocolate, black, calico, and red & white forms.
- Bubble-eye: These are one of the most difficult goldfish varieties to keep. Their bubble eyes make it difficult to get food from the bottom of fish tanks so they will mostly grab floating food.
- Celestial: This variety is unique as its bubble-eye is facing upwards. Due to this unique feature, these are also called stargazers. It has a double tail but due to a non-existent dorsal fin, they are weak swimmers in the aquarium.
- Veiltail: These are famous for their long and flowing dual tail. Veiltails provides a unique viewing experience in the aquariums.
- Pompoms: This variety has bundles of loose fleshy outgrowth between the nostrils. This unique feature is pleasing for some and disturbing for others.

What is the typical diet for a goldfish or comet variety?
These fish are provided with more carbohydrate portion fish food. Their food is a bit different from other fish food. They eat the larvae of mosquitos, therefore, are useful in stagnant ponds to curtail mosquitoes. They are also fed green leafy vegetables, bloodworms, and peas.
Overfeeding may cause health issues for these fish as they are unable to stop feeding on their own accord.

- These are not adaptive to anoxic water for a longer period. They need cold-water habitats to survive.
- Goldfish breeding is highly dependent on the right water quantity and nutrition.
- These fish can grow up to 6 inches in the bigger aquariums whereas their growth is stalled in the smaller tanks.
